What is Solar PV?
Solar panel electricity systems, also known as solar photovoltaics (PV), capture the sun’s energy using photovoltaic cells. These cells don’t need direct sunlight to work – they can still generate some electricity on a cloudy day. The cells convert the sunlight into electricity, which can be used to run household appliances and lighting. You can now claim a SEAI grant worth €1,800 for 2KW PV or €3,000 with 4KW PV and a 2.24kWh Battery.
What are the benefits?
Cheaper electricity bills
On average, a solar PV system can save between €200-€300 per year on your domestic electricity bill. This will make a big difference to you household running costs, allowing you to save for what really matters.
Cut your carbon footprint
A typical home solar PV system could save over a tonne and a half of carbon dioxide per year – that’s more than 30 tonnes over its lifetime.
Your path off grid
Power your home with the solar energy and store excess in a battery storage solution to reduce your reliance on the grid and lower your electricity bill.
Improve your BER
By investing in solar PV, you will also be making an impact on the BER of your home. When it comes to selling your home, a higher BER will add value and help you achieve a higher sale price.
